When do I get paid?+
Within 7 business days after your friend's install is complete and paid in full. Checks go out every Friday from our Philly HQ.
How do I get paid?+
We mail a paper check to the address you provide on the form. Want Venmo or Zelle instead? Just write it in the friend's neighborhood box and we'll switch you over.
Is there a limit to how many friends I can refer?+
Nope. Refer one. Refer fifty. Every qualifying install pays you $50. Some of our top referrers earn $500+ a year just from neighbors.
What counts as a 'completed' install?+
Your friend's water heater is installed, tested, and paid in full. Estimates, cancellations, and warranty calls don't count — only finished installs.
What if two people refer the same friend?+
First in line wins. Whoever's name your friend gives us first when they book — that's who we pay.
Can I refer myself or my spouse?+
No self-referrals — including same-household or shared-address referrals. The reward is for sending us new customers.
Do I have to pay taxes on the $50?+
One-off referrals usually aren't a tax event. If your total rewards exceed $600 in a calendar year, the IRS requires us to issue a 1099 and request your W-9.
Does my friend get a discount too?+
Your friend gets our flat-rate pricing — same honest price every customer pays. No gimmicks, no surge pricing. The $50 reward is just for you.
The Straight Skinny
- 1. Eligibility: Anyone 18+ may refer. You don't need to be a past customer.
- 2. Qualifying Install: A referral is "completed" when the friend's water heater install is finished and paid in full. Cancellations, refunds, and warranty work do not qualify.
- 3. One Reward Per Install: Each unique address/install earns one $50 reward. The first referrer credited wins ties.
- 4. Self-Referrals: You can't refer yourself, your spouse, or anyone at your own address.
- 5. Payout: $50 mailed by paper check to the address you provide, within 7 business days of the install being paid.
- 6. Combinability: Referral rewards can't be combined with employee discounts or wholesale pricing. Rewards do not reduce your friend's price.
- 7. Taxes: Rewards over $600/year may require a Form 1099. We'll request your W-9 if you cross that line.
- 8. Honesty Clause: No spam, no fake leads, no contact-list scraping. We reserve the right to void rewards for abuse.
- 9. Program Changes: Flat Rate Water Heater may modify or end this program at any time. Pending earned rewards will be honored.
